Not sure if Skiing appeals to you?  Why not enjoy a rural break in Spain and take a day out to try skiing.  Read on for more details....

The Sierra Nevada Ski Resort is the most southern resort in Europe and World Ski Championships have been held here.  Many winter sports are held high up in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada and the season is the longest in the Country, being 5 months long.

There are 61km of ski slopes and 45 pistes along with 6 off-piste routes.  There are also 2 cable cars, 12 chair lifts and 5 ski lifts.

The resort opens from 9am to 5pm, and there is also night skiing at weekends and during the holidays.  The quieter times tend to be during weekdays, between 9am-11am and 1pm-3pm.  

Not sure whether skiing would appeal to us, we recently visited the Sierra Nevada and spent a day at the resort.

It took us just over 2 hours to travel to the Sierra Nevada and makes a splendid day out for those who have never skied before and are unsure whether they will enjoy it / or for those who have skied and fancy a day there, it is ideal as well and relatively inexpensive compared to many other European resorts. 

You are able to buy 1/2 day ski passes which is plenty if you have not tried before.  Clothes and ski hire is available at the resort.

We paid 35 euros for one hour's training (normal rate approx. 39 euros) - skiing and snowboarding tuition available

37 euros for ski pass for one day per person

22 euros for skis and boots and 15 euros for trousers and jackets (which you may not need), again per person.

Food is very reasonably priced and you can always take sandwiches with you.

Parking is the most expensive averaging 20 euros for the day!

So for just over 100 euros (around 70 pounds) you can enjoy a fantastic day out!
