The town is set in a beautiful landscape, marked by the red earth, which looks somewhat like the "Grand Canyon" in various places.
Today, Guadix is popular with tourists due to the many caves, burrowed into the soft, yellow cliffs. Named "Troglodytes" the people here are keen to show you around their houses. Keep an eye out for the Castillo de Calahorra which can be found to the east of Guadix where you can find four huge, squat pepperpots which are worth a look at.
A large market takes place each Saturday. You need to arrive by 9.30am to park and have all morning to enjoy the many stalls.
