Galera is one of the most interesting archaeological sites in the province of Granada.
A lake used to cover the landscape and when it dried up it brought with it many archaeological remains which range from the Paleolithic, the Calcolithic and the Argaric culture to Iberian times.
A Museum of Prehistory and Palaeontology is host to Galera and can be found in the Torre del Homenaje.
There is also a monumental heritage the "Alcazaba de las Siete Torres". This dates back to the 11th century.
The "Palicio de los Segura" is also well worth a visit.
Replica Argaric glassware is also made here in the archaeological ceramic workshops. This tradition has passed down through the centuries.
