How to find us:

Castril lies in the province of Granada, in the Andalucian part of Southern Spain, on the A326 between Pozo Alcon and Huescar, which is to the north of the excellent A92 dual carriageway running between Granada and Murcia. Castril is about 45km north of Baza, the nearest major city to be found on most maps of Spain. The nearest cities to Castril is about Granada (around 1.5 - 2hrs), Murcia (around 2.5hrs).  For the more British costal resorts Almeria is approximately 2hrs) and further South, is Torremolinos, Marbella etc.(2.5hrs).

Out of Granada, get on the A92 heading towards Murcia / Almeria.

As you approach Guadix, you will need to be in the right hand lane as the motorway splits. You need to be on the A92N heading towards Baza and Murcia (the other lane is for Almeria).
  • Keep heading towards Baza.
  • Come off the motorway at Junction 339 for Baza.  At this junction come off and take the signs for Castril (which is approx. 45kms). 
  • Continue along the road, you will go through Benamaurel, follow signs for Castril (which is approx. 23kms). 
  • Once through Benamaurel, continue along the road and you will see a turning to the right for Castillejar, go past this turning, up the hill and as you go down the bottom of the hill there is a right hand turn for Castril. 
  • Take this turning on the right for Castril continue along it.  This road is long, narrow and bumpy.  Be prepared to slow down for approaching vehicles.  You will go through a village called Los Almontaras
  • Continue to travel for another 8kms before coming to a T-junction
  • Here you will turn left for Castril
  • Carry on along the road....you will see a garage on your left
  • A little further along you will go past a brown sign on your right for the "Sierra de Castril" (don't turn off here, carry along the main road)
  • You will see a tall white sign on your right saying "Castril"
  • Carry on around the bend for approximately 1.4kms and there is an old ruin on your left with some graffiti (!)
  • Just past here, higher on your right hand side you will see a small community of houses (there is a small (tiny) white square sign and then a white concrete sign which says "Bienvenido La Solana" (you cannot clearly see this from the road, so you will need to slow right down - if you miss this, you are likely to continue down the hill into the village of Castril.  You will need to turn around and come back up the hill)
  • Take a right onto the track, carry along and take the second right. Our accommodation is immediately on your right.  Park anyway in this area.
 
We are located 1.5kms above the village of Castril, so if you do go past us and end up in the village, please make sure you ask for "La Solana" as we are not known as "Paz Y Calma" (Pazycalma) here as yet....
 
If you are arrival late at night it will be extremely dark on the roads upon arrival, so if you have any problems finding us, please do not hesitate to call us and we will come and meet you.
